TRAPPER MEN FALL IN SEMIFINALS

Without their leading scorer and one of the top scoring options off the bench, the Northwest College men’s basketball team came up just short of making the Region IX Championship Game in Sterling, Colorado.

TRAPPER WOMEN FINISH SECOND IN REGION IX

Competing at the Region IX Tournament in Rock Springs the Northwest College women’s basketball team found its groove again but came up short in the championship game, as the Trappers defeated Eastern Wyoming College 67-61 in the quarterfinals, Lamar Community College 69-52 in the semifinals before falling to Gillette College in the championship game 80-72.

REBOUNDS PROPEL MEN'S PLAY-IN WIN

Doubling up the visitors in rebounding helped propel the Northwest College men’s basketball team to a play-in victory at home Saturday, defeating Western Nebraska Community College 85-73 to advance to the Region IX Tournament.

Jaila Childress was one of four Trappers in double-figures as Northwest rolled past visiting Northeastern Junior College 88-57 after returning to full strength for the first time in several weeks.
TRAPPERS DOMINATE PLAY-IN GAME

Returning to full strength for the first time in several weeks the Northwest College women’s basketball team blitzed past visiting Northeastern Junior College 88-57 in Cabre Gym on Saturday to open postseason play.

Austin Richens (top) claimed the NJCAA national title at 285 pounds for the Trappers on Saturday in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Richens went 5-0 with four pins and a 5-2 sudden victory, giving him his second straight All-American honors and first individual crown in the championship bout.
TRAPPPERS EIGHTH AT NATIONALS

The Northwest College wrestling team took a productive trip to the NJCAA National Championships and returned with three All-Americans, as Zachary Covolo and Asad Fayzullaev both finished third at 141 and 184 pounds, while Austin Richens claimed the individual title at 285 pounds.

TRAPPER WOMEN SHARE REGIONAL CROWN

Despite ending the season on a three-game losing streak, including a loss on the road to Western Wyoming Community College 80-72 on Feb. 25, the Northwest College women’s basketball team claimed a share of the Region IX North regular season title in a three-way tie.

TRAPPER MEN LEAP TO SECOND PLACE

The Northwest College men’s basketball team leapfrogged its way into second place, defeating Western Wyoming Community College 75-62 on Feb. 25, ending with a four-game winning streak in the regular season.

TRAPPER WRESTLING HEADS TO NATIONALS IN IOWA

Following a weekend off, the Northwest College wrestling team is on the road for the NJCAA National Championships in Council Bluffs, Iowa, taking nine wrestlers to compete at the national tournament on Friday and Saturday.

Nine wrestlers have qualified for the NJCAA National Championships for the Northwest College wrestling team following a strong performance at the Plains District Championships in Rock Springs on Saturday.

TRAPPERS SURGE TO END SEASON

Finding its stride late in the season the Northwest College men’s basketball team has locked up a top three seed and remains in the hunt for the top spot in the region, after defeating Central Wyoming College 61-53 on Feb. 18 and Casper College 79-70 on Saturday to reach a three game winning streak.

NWC WOMEN HIT LATE SEASON HURDLES

During a challenging week, needing just one win to secure the No. 1 seed, the Northwest College women’s basketball team stumbled without two main rotation players, falling to Central Wyoming College 78-65 at home on Feb. 18 and losing on the road to Casper College 78-71 on Saturday.

TRAPPERS EARN FIFTH STRAIGHT WIN

Pulling away for good late and avenging the only conference loss of the season put the Northwest College women’s basketball team in prime position to secure the No. 1 seed and hosting rights in the postseason, defeating visiting Gillette College 88-61 on Saturday.

An important win snapped a three game losing skid for the Northwest College men’s basketball team, as the Trappers rallied with a big second half to defeat Gillette College 81-66 at home Saturday.

NWC WRESTLING HEADS TO QUALIFIERS

After having several weeks off from competition to prepare, the Northwest College wrestling team is set to hit the road for the NJCAA Plains District Tournament in Rock Springs on Saturday.

BAUMSTARCK SIGNS WITH BISMARK

Northwest College volleyball sophomore Ellianna Baumstarck signed her letter of intent in January to continue her playing career at Bismarck State University, an NAIA school in North Dakota.
