NWC WOMEN FALL IN OVERTIME

After a strong October pushed the Northwest College women’s soccer team into the postseason on a high note, the season came to a close on the road at Central Wyoming College. A golden goal off a corner kick in overtime ended the Trapper’s season 2-1 in Riverton on Saturday.

October has been just what the Northwest College women’s soccer team needed, as the Trappers continued their undefeated run with another pair of shutout wins, defeating Lamar Community College 6-0 and Northeastern Junior College 5-0 to earn a spot in the postseason.

Returning home for the first time in a month brought out the best in the Northwest College women’s team Friday, as a Bailey Wright hat trick alongside a strong goalkeeping performance by Julianna Hidalgo led to a 3-0 win over Gillette College, before a difficult Saturday contest saw Northwest fall to visiting Casper College.

Finishing up the final weekend of a month-long road trip to start the regular season, the Northwest College women’s soccer team split games against Region IX opponents, losing 2-1 to Otero College on Friday before cruising past Trinidad State College 8-0 on Saturday.

After its Friday match was canceled, the Northwest College women’s soccer team started strong but sputtered out in a 1-1 draw against North Idaho College on the road Saturday in the final nonconference match of the regular season.
NWC WOMEN SPLIT SEASON OPENERS

Starting the regular season with a pair of neutral site games in Ephraim, Utah, the Northwest College women’s soccer team started the year 1-1, losing a difficult contest on Thursday to Yavapai College 1-0 out of Prescott, Arizona. The Trappers rebounded on Friday, defeating a Region IX opponent in Western Nebraska Community College 5-2 in a nonconference matchup.

The women’s soccer team split its preseason scrimmages against four-year institutions, defeating the University of Providence 7-1 on Friday before falling to Rocky Mountain College 3-0 on Sunday.

Strong performances on the court were backed by strong performances in the classroom for Northwest College athletics, as all six teams made the All-Academic team list with cumulative team GPAs over 3.0, and 52 athletes were named individually to the All-Academic honors list.
